Safari Overview
Wildlife is only half of Tanzania’s story. This 6-day safari adds the country’s living cultures to the classic northern circuit. You will hunt at dawn with the Hadzabe bushmen, visit Datoga blacksmiths, and still enjoy the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater in full.
How the Trip Flows
Wildlife and culture take turns on this route. The trip opens with elephants in Tarangire, then bends south to Lake Eyasi for a dawn hunt with the Hadzabe — most guests call it the moment of the trip. From there the road climbs back through Karatu and out onto the Serengeti plains. The crater waits for the final morning. Each cultural stop is genuine and unhurried, with fees paid directly to the communities. The full day-by-day plan, with every lodge and meal, is in the itinerary tab.
Where You Will Stay
The trip uses Burunge Tented Lodge by Tarangire, Lake Eyasi Safari Lodge, Serengeti Kati Kati inside the park, and Ngorongoro Farm House near the crater gate. Each stop matches its landscape.
Safari Highlights
Walk with one of Africa’s last hunter-gatherer peoples. Watch Datoga craftsmen turn scrap metal into jewelry. Track lions across the Serengeti plains. Descend into the crater for a Big Five finale.
Best Time to Go
This route works all year. The dry season makes the Eyasi visits easiest. The green season brings lush views and lower rates. Hunting walks happen at dawn in every season.
Who This Safari Suits
Ideal for curious travelers, families with teens and anyone who wants real human stories alongside the wildlife.
Good to Know
The Hadzabe hunting walk starts before sunrise, so expect one very early morning. It is the highlight most guests talk about for years. All cultural visit fees go to the communities themselves. The trip is private, with park fees, meals and game drives included. Roads to Lake Eyasi are rough but short. Swap Tarangire for Lake Manyara if you have seen it before. We shape the route around what excites you most.
