Safari Overview
Short on time but big on dreams? This 3-day Tanzania safari packs three famous parks into one smooth trip. You will see huge elephant herds, tree-climbing lions and the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater. It is the perfect first taste of the African wild.
How the Trip Flows
The route forms a neat triangle out of Arusha, so no road is driven twice. Day one belongs to Tarangire’s elephants. Day two moves to Lake Manyara, down the dramatic Rift Valley wall. The finale is a sunrise descent into the Ngorongoro Crater before the drive home. Both nights are spent at the same lodge in Karatu, so you unpack only once. Driving legs are short, mostly under two hours. That means more time watching animals and less time on the road. The full day-by-day plan is laid out in the itinerary tab.
Where You Will Stay
Both nights are spent at Bougainvillea Safari Lodge in Karatu. This trusted lodge offers cozy cottages with fireplaces, lush gardens and a swimming pool. It sits perfectly between all three parks.
Safari Highlights
Watch elephants crowd the Tarangire River. Search for lions resting in the trees at Manyara. Stand on the crater rim and look down into a lost world. Spot the rare black rhino on the crater floor. Every day brings a new park and new sightings.
Best Time to Go
This safari works well all year round. June to October brings dry weather and big elephant numbers. November to May is greener, quieter and better value. The crater is superb in every season.
Who This Safari Suits
This trip suits first-time visitors, busy travelers and anyone adding a short safari to a Zanzibar or Kilimanjaro trip. It proves that even three days in Tanzania can change how you see the world.
Good to Know
This safari runs as a private trip with your own 4×4 and guide. All park fees, meals and game drives are included. Driving times are short: about two hours from Arusha to Tarangire and under an hour between Karatu and each park. Pack a warm layer, because crater mornings are cold. Want to add the Serengeti? This trip extends easily into our 5-day classic circuit. Just ask and we will build it around your dates.

Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Your guide picks you up after breakfast for the two-hour drive to Tarangire. Enter the park and enjoy a picnic lunch under the trees. Spend the afternoon on a game drive among giant baobabs and some of Africa's largest elephant herds. Late afternoon, drive about 90 minutes to the Karatu highlands.
Day 2: Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast, descend the Rift Valley wall to Lake Manyara National Park. Explore the groundwater forest, home of baboons, elephants and the famous tree-climbing lions. Watch for flamingos and hippos along the lake shore. Return to Karatu for a relaxed afternoon by the pool or a walk to the local market.
Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha
Leave early and descend 600 meters onto the crater floor as the sun rises. Spend the morning among lions, buffalo, hyenas and, with luck, the rare black rhino. Enjoy a picnic beside the hippo pool. Climb out of the crater in the early afternoon and drive back to Arusha, arriving before evening.
