How the Trip Flows
Twelve days move through Tanzania in the right order: culture and small parks first, the Serengeti at the center, the crater as the wildlife finale, and Zanzibar to land softly at the end. Three nights at one Serengeti lodge and two at Lake Eyasi keep packing to a minimum. Two legendary properties — Legendary Lodge and Gibbs Farm — bookend the safari with comfort and history. Then four island nights close the journey. The itinerary tab lays out all twelve days, each with its lodge and meals.

Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Arusha
Transfer from Kilimanjaro International Airport to a coffee estate on the edge of Arusha. Rest, swim and reset your body clock before the journey begins.
Day 2: Tarangire National Park
Drive two hours to Tarangire for a full afternoon among elephants and baobabs, then sleep inside the park under canvas.
Day 3: Lake Manyara and Mto wa Mbu, then Lake Eyasi
Morning game drive in Lake Manyara, home of tree-climbing lions. After a village walk in Mto wa Mbu, continue to the Rift Valley oasis at Lake Eyasi.
Day 4: Hadzabe and Datoga
Hunt at dawn with the Hadzabe bushmen, then visit Datoga blacksmiths in the late morning. The afternoon is free by the pool as the lake shimmers below.
Day 5: Into the Serengeti
Drive up through Karatu and across the Ngorongoro highlands, pausing at the crater rim, then descend onto the plains with a game drive to your hillside lodge.
Day 6: Serengeti — Following the Herds
A full day timed to the migration: calving plains in the south or big herds moving through the center, depending on your dates.
Day 7: Serengeti — Big-Cat Country
A second full day, focused on the Seronera Valley's lions, leopards and cheetahs, with an afternoon by the infinity pool.
Day 8: Serengeti to Gibbs Farm
A sunrise drive, then travel back over the highlands to the historic Gibbs Farm, where a massage and a farm-to-table dinner await.
Day 9: Ngorongoro Crater, then Fly to Zanzibar
Descend into the crater at dawn for the safari's grand finale. After an early lunch, drive to Arusha and fly to Zanzibar, reaching Kendwa Beach by evening.
Day 10: Zanzibar — Beach Day
Nothing planned, on purpose. The beach, the pool and the spa are all steps away.
Day 11: Zanzibar — Spice Tour and Sunset Dhow
Tour a spice farm in the morning and sail a traditional dhow at sunset. Toast the journey as the sky turns pink.
Day 12: Fly Home
A slow breakfast and a last swim before your transfer to Zanzibar airport. You have seen the whole of Tanzania.
