Sangaiwe Tented Lodge
Near Sangaiwe gate, Tarangire / Lake Burunge
Sangaiwe Tented Lodge stands on a gentle hill near the Sangaiwe gate of Tarangire National Park. The views stretch across the bush toward Lake Burunge. Mornings here are special, with soft light spreading over the savannah. The lodge is friendly, well kept and fairly priced.
Spacious Permanent Tents
The permanent tents sit under thatched roofs. Each one has a private bathroom with a hot shower, comfortable beds and a shaded deck. The deck is the perfect spot for morning coffee with a view. The tents are solid and cool, built for year-round comfort.
Pool, Bar and Restaurant
The main areas include a restaurant, a bar and a swimming pool overlooking the plains. Meals are fresh and generous. The pool is a welcome treat after hot game drives. Sunset from the bar terrace is a daily highlight.
Game Drives and Walks
Game drives enter Tarangire within minutes through the Sangaiwe gate. The park’s elephant herds, baobab forests and river wildlife are all close. The surrounding Burunge area offers walking safaris with local guides. Birdlife is rich both in the park and around the lodge.
Location and Access
The lodge sits on the quieter western side of Tarangire. This means fewer vehicles and a wilder feel. Lake Manyara National Park is within easy reach. Arusha is about two hours away by road. For an excellent-value base at one of Tanzania’s wildest parks, Sangaiwe Tented Lodge delivers.
Best Time to Visit
Sangaiwe is strongest from June to October, when Tarangire’s dry-season gathering is in full swing. The green season offers lower rates, lush views and excellent birding. The pool earns its keep in the warm months. Two nights works well, with a full park day in between. The lodge suits families, first-time safari-goers and travelers who want comfort and park access at a fair price.
