Lake Burunge Baobab Tented Lodge
Burunge Wildlife Management Area, near Tarangire
This lodge is named for the ancient baobab trees that tower over its grounds. It sits in the Burunge Wildlife Management Area, between Lake Burunge and the edge of Tarangire National Park. Some of these baobabs are hundreds of years old. They give the camp a magical, timeless feel.
Comfortable Safari Tents
The tented rooms mix canvas walls with solid comforts. Each one has a quality bed under a mosquito net, a hot shower and a private veranda. The tents are spaced out for privacy. Elephants, giraffes and zebras often pass through the woodland around camp.
Dining and Evenings
Meals are fresh and hearty, served in the main dining area. The bar offers cold drinks after dusty game drives. Evenings end by the fire, under the great dark shapes of the baobabs. The night sky here is brilliant.
Walking Safaris and Night Drives
The lodge sits on community-managed land. This means guests can join walking safaris with local guides. Night drives reveal genets, civets and hunting cats. These activities are not allowed inside the national parks. They add a whole new layer to your safari.
Location and Wildlife
Tarangire’s famous elephant herds are a short drive away. The birdlife around the lake is superb, from flamingos to fish eagles. Lake Manyara National Park is within day-trip range. Arusha is about two hours by road. The lodge combines real bush atmosphere with tourism that helps the local community.
Best Time to Visit
The dry months, June to October, bring steady wildlife traffic past the lodge. The green months light up the baobabs and fill the lake with birds. Photographers love the giant trees at sunrise and sunset in any season. Two nights allows a Tarangire day trip plus a walking safari. The lodge suits couples, photographers and travelers who want community-positive tourism with real bush character.
